James:

Thank you for your comment and for sharing your memories. Wish I could have seen Feller pitch. Here's hoping loyal Cleveland sports fan like you get a chance to experience a championship soon from the Indians, Browns or Cavaliers.

In my youth I was fortunate to see Bob Feller pitch at Cleveland Stadium and he always drew large crowds like the 5th game of the 1948 World series played before 86,288 screaming fans in a stadium that wasn't always fan friedly. But he also was a tireless worker as he always was doing stretching exercises and jogging the field on days he did not pitch. That pitching staff of the 1948 season has to be one of the greatest with Feller, Lemon, Garcia, Bearden and Steve Gromek. Thank God I grew up in that era and was able to see the Cleveland Rams win NFL title after which they moved to L A and then followed the Cleveland Browns and for the next 20 years I saw great football up until Modell came upon the scene to ultimately destroy a great football Franchise that he turned into a team that over his reign basically fielded a team that hovered around the 500 percentage won loss record. He stabbed the backs of faithful patrons that had been loyal to a team that didn't win a thing to attempt to save his sorry ass from financial disaster, that was self inflicted, by moving the team to Baltimore.

Flood stepped forward as any fielder would to gain momentum to backtrack. He may or may not have caught the ball, but the fact remains....he didn't. Northrup knocked the "crap" out of it as he stated himself. I blame Brock's foolish lead off first for hurting the Cards in that series despite his otherwise outstanding performance. When the dust settled, the Tigers proved themselves the better team.
